The Southwest Credit Cards have become low-key famous in the points and miles world for their ability to fast track a companion pass for your partner. Not only can these cards earn you a companion pass, but also a slew of miles. Each of these cards automatically adds 10,000 points towards earning your companion pass to your account. In fact, the sign up bonus from two of these cards (one personal + one business), along with the companion pass (and a few Chase points) got our family of 5 to Costa Rica.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus
The Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus card comes with a $69 annual fee. It offers 2 free Early-Bird Check-in’s per year, and 25% off in flight purchases. You will also earn 2 points per dollar on Southwest purchases, Hotel and rental car partner purchases, local transit, internet, cable, phone and streaming services. Every year on your card anniversary you will get 3,000 Southwest points.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier
The Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier card comes with a $99 annual fee. It offers 2 free Early-Bird Check-in’s per year, and 25% off in-flight purchases. For every $10,000 you spend, you will receive 1,500 tier qualifying points towards A-list. A great bonus of this card that is often overlooked is ZERO foreign transaction fees. This would make it a good choice for international travel. You will also earn 2 points per dollar on Southwest purchases, Hotel and rental car partner purchases, local transit, internet, cable, phone and streaming services. Every year on your card anniversary you will get 6,000 Southwest points.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority
The Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority card comes with a $149 annual fee, but arguably the best benefits of the 3 personal card offers. It offers 4 upgraded boardings per year, an annual $75 Southwest travel credit, and 25% off in-flight purchases. For every $10,000 you spend, you will receive 1,500 tier qualifying points towards A-list. This card also holds the NO foreign transaction fees bonus. Like on the other cards listed above, you will also earn 2 points per dollar on Southwest purchases, Hotel and rental car partner purchases, local transit, internet, cable, phone and streaming services. Every year on your card anniversary you will get 7,500 Southwest points.
