Southwest Business Cards offer some great benefits to those who frequent Southwest Airlines, and they also are a great addition to your wallet if you are pursuing the Southwest Companion Pass.

The Perks of Southwest Business Cards
I would argue that the perks offered by these business cards may outweigh actual Southwest Status. However, our specific love for them is due to the ability to utilize them to earn us the Southwest Companion Pass. This year our family will earn our second Southwest Companion Pass, meaning rather than paying for 5 flights when we travel, we are paying for 3. Knocking off those 2 people makes travel much more feasible.
Southwest Premier Business
This card earns you 6,000 bonus rapid rewards points per year, which could be enough for a one way flight during one of their sales. You also get 3x back on Southwest purchases and 2x back on hotel and rental car partner purchases. The bonuses include 2 Early Bird Check-ins per year, 25% inflight purchase discount, and no foreign transaction fees. The annual fee on this card is $99
Southwest Performance Business
This is the card we would pick of the two business cards if given a choice. It has a 9,000 annual anniversary points bonus, and you get 4x points on Southwest purchases, and 3x points on partner hotel and rental car spending. The bonuses on this card include 4 upgraded boardings, which are a lifesaver when you login to find yourself in boarding group C49, 365 inflight internet credits each year, and a yearly global entry or TSA Precheck credit. The annual fee on this card is $199.
What would we choose?
As we said before, we would go for the Performance Business card. While it does have the higher annual fee, the credits it provides make sense for us. We love using TSA Precheck for ourselves or gifting it to friends and family members. The inflight internet credits, upgraded boardings, and extra 3,000 anniversary points really seal the deal for us. However, we rarely keep this card longer than a year, as we are often just utilizing it for companion pass season.
