These Capital One Cards are hidden gems that are quickly rising in popularity in the points and miles world, and for good reason. These cards have exceptional transfer partner options, and offer a slew of travel benefits. The Capital One Venture X card may be my favorite card in my wallet right now!

Capital One Venture Card
The Capital One Venture Card is a great addition to your wallet if you are looking to get 2 points per dollar! Many also appreciate the travel eraser that this card offers.
- 2x points on every purchase
- Travel Eraser
- $100 Annual TSA Precheck Credit or Global Entry Credit
While it doesn’t hold the same high-end perks as the venture x, this card is a definite winner to include in your wallet, and a high value earner for miscellaneous purchases.
Capital One Venture X Card
The Capital One Venture X Card comes with an annual fee of a whopping $395. BUT let me show you why I think that’s completely worth it. This card has some serious benefits that for us outweigh the cost.
- 2x points on every purchase
- 10,000 annual points
- $300 travel credit / year – must be booked in the Capital One portal (we use this for rental cars)
- Lounge Access at Capital One Lounges and through Priority Pass
- $100 Credit towards TSA Precheck or Global Entry
- Hertz Presidents Circle Status
- Cell Phone Protection
- No Foreign Transaction Fees
Capital One Lounges
These Capital One Lounges y’all, they are niiiiiiiiice. It really makes my family excited to go and eat at the airport. They have a smattering of high end “bites” and also lots of free drinks from coffee to alcohol. Not to mention the grab and go section that gives you a slew of options to take with you. If you are based in Denver, Washington D.C., or Dallas, I would consider the Venture X for the lounge access in those locations. Our family has thoroughly enjoyed coming to visit us and using their lounge access at the Denver airport.
Declined for Capital One Cards
Did you get declined for a Capital One Card even though you have excellent credit score? Did you call them to reconsider and they said poo-poo to you? YOU ARE NOT ALONE! This is super common with Capital One and no one really has an answer as to why. The answer is, try again later. The most frequently cited time people are approved is early-on in their travel hacking journey. While this stinks, there are other cards, and other opportunities so don’t let this discourage you!
Conclusion
Capital One has become a true contender in the points and miles game. While at first glance their transfer partners may confuse you, when you utilize airline alliances, and book early, you can easily make this card a long term champ for your points and miles journey.
